Healthy Menu and Nutrition
At BPFC, we believe healthy eating is important during all stages of life, especially during childhood. Not only are children’s bodies growing, creating high nutrient needs; but eating habits developed during childhood will last a lifetime. As your childcare provider, we have the opportunity to shape children’s eating habits to be as healthy as possible. The Centre provides healthy morning and afternoon snacks and a hot lunch. Our healthy menu provides our children with wholesome and homemade foods prepared with whole grains and seasonal fruits and vegetables. We have drastically reduced the use of pre-packaged food, and white flours and pasta, while increasing fibre by cooking with whole grains and beans. We also limit sugars and unsaturated fats. Daily requirements of the Canada Food Guide have been followed. All allergy concerns and food restrictions are taken into account in menu planning and preparation.
